Untold story: A couple lost somewhere...In the past

I broke up with my boyfriend. We were in a relationship for about 2 years. Our relationship started like this. One random day I was asking all my classmates who their crush/BF/GF was. So there came he. I asked him. He said the first 3 letter of my name. I started guessing. I told that I like someone else. Then he said someone else's name starting with the same three letters like mine. I started asking him various questions about her like her school, where does she stay, he age, etc. And then he said that he doesn't like her but he likes me. And said that he likes the other girl because I said another boy's name. Then I don't know why but I started falling for this guy. And we were in a relationship. After around one year of our relationship, I came to know that a girl from our school likes my BF and proposed him. He said that they are not in a relationship but the girl said that they are. Slowly The other girl's name started getting paired with my BF instead of mine. I didn't say him anything as I knew he wouldn't do that. After another year I came to many other things like these. Even he doesn't used to talk to me in school. But outside he was a total shy-guy with him unlike he is with others. Do u think I did the right thing by breaking up with him? What should I do now? We talked on the phone after 4 months of our breakup and we were talking like bestest friends forever. Like nothing really happen. He came to my building when I asked him to. He walked with me till my drawing class without me telling him. I still love him the same way I used to love him 2 years back. I want him back. What should I do?

PS:The calls and the drawing class thing happened after our breakup
