need help!

there is this guy that i sit with in the bus and well were usually close, not hugging, but just being really close to me. its not my original place there so of course his friends are getting pissed at me but i usually dont care. but today he told me to go sit at my spot because he didn't want his friends to get mad. and this morning he was fine, and he just dropped that on me. now my confidence of him liking me is just really low...
